What is Blepharoplasty?

Blepharoplasty is the term for cosmetic surgery of the eyelids or eye rejuvenation. The objective of such a surgery is to tighten up the areas of skin around the eyes to give a more youthful look which combats the effect that naturally comes with age. This surgery has become increasingly popular and shows significant results in removing signs of aging.

The Procedure

As this most often an elective procedure, the patient should discuss with his or her doctor what they want to achieve from the surgery. The surgery usually takes approximately one hour and due to the nature of the surgery, swelling is to be experienced with stitches being removed soon after the procedure. The surgery is done to remove the excess skin around the eyes leaving a smoother, revitalised look.
